Roof Boards 2

Putting up the roof one 2x6 at a time is a slow process. We are getting more efficient at it as we go, but it has taken a lot of work. Every board takes 18 nails and when you get to the boards near the top, each set of two nails requires moving and climbing up the ladder to get to the right spot. It will be worth it though as we will be looking up at these boards for many years to come. Speaking of nails, Royall and I figured out the other day we have put about 20,000 nails in our house so far. It’s probably about twice as many as we need but no one is going to tell me my house fell over because I didn’t use enough nails. That’s not counting screws either, we’ve put in about 5,000 of those. It was super windy yesterday and I am proud to say the house showed no signs of swaying or creaking.

After we finish the roof boards we will staple on the synthetic roof underlayment and move on to the next challenge. Roof Insulation.
