Dormer

A shed dormer is a good way to get some extra space in an area with a steep roof. A few days ago Royall had the idea to make the shed dormer we had planned on the west wall bigger to get more room in one of the upstairs bedrooms so we made the change. We have made countless changes to the plan as we have gone along from the design stage all the way up to the day we are building it.

To make the wide dormer work structurally we needed to beef up the adjoining rafters and ridge beam. It took more time and wood to do this but it will be worth it for the extra space.
