Sheathing

We debated whether or not to go with OSB or plywood sheathing. Despite the higher cost we decided on plywood. It can withstand water better than OSB and we didn’t know when we were going to get the chance to cover it up with a house wrap.

It took our whole construction crew to lift each sheet of plywood into place and quickly nail it down. Some careful layout in the wall building stage ensured every board hit the middle of the studs.

Back on our first day of official house construction I needed to rip a sheet of plywood for our concrete forms. It was a disaster. My inexperience combined with the cheap circular saw I was using resulted in a useless wavy cut. I learned that first day that contractor grade tools are the only way to go. Now ripping a straight sheet of plywood is no problem at all.

My brother came out to come help cut the window and door openings and brought some dirt bikes along for a rip.
