Unveil the Miracles

At the end of my first day as a missionary in Japan my companion asked me. “What miracles did we see today? I had to think about it a little that first day but as he would ask me at the end of each day it got easier to unveil the miracles. Recognizing the miracles in your life and showing thankfulness for them strengthen your relationship with God as faith and trust increase. In Rhett’s words: “ We sure have been seeing a lot of miracles”. I would like to document the miracles we experience along the way, we will be looking to recognize them each day.

Lumber

Lumber pricing has been a roller coaster during the pandemic. We are going to start framing soon so a few weeks ago I starting looking for all the 2x6’s I would need for the main floor framing. It didn’t take much searching to spot an irregularity. The price for 2x6 studs on the Rona website was about half of everywhere else. I immediately placed an order for 250 of them and a few minutes later got a call from Rona saying there was a mistake in the pricing. They said they would honor the price for 20 of them but I couldn’t buy 250. I then tried calling Home depot to see if they would price match it which they wouldn’t. I tried to place the same order at a different nearby Rona location and it didn’t work. I then searched to see which location in the province had the most of them in stock. Maybe they would be willing to let them go if they had a bunch of them sitting in the yard. I found a location that had about 1,500 in stock and placed the order with them and an hour later got a call saying my order was ready for pickup! My brother and cousin who live in the same area as the Rona I was going to came along with me to help me load it up. The staff at the desk were a bit confused when they were looking at the order and the manager had to come over to take a look at it. He even took a picture with his phone of the printed order I brought in. Maybe the fact that I was there with the trailer ready to load it up with two other guys and it was close to closing time they just let it slide. Whatever the reason the forklift loaded me up and I was on my way.

Windows
We have been planning the windows for months. What size? Casement, double hung, or picture? What is the ideal length to width ratio? What grid pattern should they have? Double or triple pane? Vinyl or wood? We spend hours and hours researching and deciding until we finally came up with a completed order we were happy with. The morning we were headed into the city to pay the 50% deposit on the windows I was chatting with a neighbor who mentioned a custom window place nearby that has a big warehouse with a bunch of windows that never ended up getting installed that they sell for cost. We decided to check it out on the way to the City. They ended up having a huge selection and we were able to find 14 of the 16 windows we needed. All the windows we picked out were from one big house project that never ended up being completed. All that planning and the windows we are going to use were sitting in a warehouse just waiting for us.
